DIARY OF FW18 INSPIRATION. CHAPTER 1

Folk style has many different components. That's the secret of its magic! For this FW18 collection we decided to celebrate the mixture of different cultures with an ornate and colourful aesthetic.

The prints range from an Eastern influence to the most geometric Mexican folk as seen in the multicoloured elaborate manual embroidery, like this dress. We love it!

These are some of the things that have inspired our take on the Mex Folk universe.

A work of art. Tray with Poppies by Frida Kahlo, 1924. Even if she is probably best known for her self-portraits, Frida Kahlo painted this tray with poppies on a serving plate. It was a present for her aunt Ana. It was one of her first Art Nouveau works.

A song. Any song by Chavela Vargas. The Costa Rican-born Mexican singer whose folk songs takes us back to the essence of Mexico in a jiffy.

A cactus. Or more than one. We love them! In all their varieties and shapes.

A landscape. Coast or hinterland. Sea or desert. We focus on its houses, colours and in particular on the joy and good vibes.

An animal. A donkey. Especially if it has colourful Mexican-style pompoms.

A meal. Tacos. Homemade, served on a plate, bought from a food truck. With meat, fish or simply vegetables... we love them all! NO EXCEPTIONS!

And as we have no doubt stimulated your appetite for tacos, we now leave you with one of our favourite recipes from Goop:
